On Saturday, June 28, 2025 — what would have been his 83rd birthday — the surfing community gathered at Windansea Beach to pay final tribute to one of its most iconic surf figures, Mike Hynson

With the support of La Jolla Parks and Beaches, last Sunday, a dedicated group of volunteers came together to give the well-worn pathway at the Windansea Parking Lot a much-needed makeover.

Born in 1949, Mike Hynson is widely recognized as one of the pioneers of modern surfing, particularly noted for his incredible contributions to the sport during the 1960s

This summer, particularly WindanSea, Marine St and Sea Lane keep on the look out for rip currents.
